Library Services
The DGHE Library is a dedicated study space where students can work on their assignments, send their work to print, and borrow learning resources. Both computers and desk space are provided to support learning in a comfortable environment. The library is open from 9:00-21:00 Monday to Friday and from 9:00-17:00 on Saturdays, ensuring that all students have opportunities to use the library’s resources.
DGHE’s Librarian is available at the library desk five days a week to help students locate learning materials from the library collection, conduct research, and reference books and articles correctly in their assignments. Extensive guidance to library and learning resources is provided on the college’s online learning environment.
The library collection features an extensive range of items including books, magazines, and journal issues. The centre of the collection is the core textbooks and further reading. Our lecturers have selected a wide range of books that are tailored to the units they teach. Copies of these core texts are provided in proportion to student numbers for each course, ensuring all students have fair access to learning materials that will support their studies. Books can be borrowed for one week with automatic renewal when they are due back, allowing students to use the collection with confidence. If all borrowing copies of a given text are out of the library, students can place a reservation to ensure it is returned for them to collect. Reference copies of the library’s core collection provide students with access to a text when they drop in, allowing them to check textbooks for their assignments and make photocopies of key pages.
In addition to the physical collection, DGHE also works with our partner institutions to provide DGHE students with access to an extensive collection of online resources, including both ebooks and online journals.
