Navigating Cyber Threats: Highlights from DGHE’s Recent Webinar

On 24 July 2024, David Game Higher Education (DGHE) hosted an insightful webinar on “Cyber Security and Risk Management.” This event brought together a diverse audience eager to understand and tackle the growing threats in the digital world.

As cybercrime becomes increasingly sophisticated, the need to identify and mitigate these threats is more critical than ever. The free, one-hour online session aimed to provide participants with practical tools and strategies to navigate this challenging landscape.

The webinar was led by Professor Rob McCusker, Head of School – Social Sciences and Health, and Head of Academic Delivery & Development at DGHE. Professor McCusker, with his extensive experience advising the FBI, United Nations, and Interpol on issues such as anti-money laundering, organised crime, and counter-terrorism, shared invaluable insights into the world of cyber threats. He is also involved in developing DGHE’s new HND in Digital Technologies – Cyber Security, which launches on 30 September 2024.

During the session, attendees explored the nature and impact of cyber activities, typical targeting methods, and current corporate vulnerabilities. Professor McCusker emphasised the importance of lateral thinking in identifying and managing risks, which is crucial for protecting sensitive information and maintaining business continuity. The webinar also provided a sneak peek into what participants can expect from DGHE’s upcoming HND in Digital Technologies – Cyber Security, sparking interest among those eager to further their education in this critical field.

The event attracted a wide range of participants, including students, staff, and the public. Feedback highlighted the session’s practical value, with many attendees appreciating the insights into cyber threats and risk management.
