Support During the Festive Season
Posted on 20/12/23
As we dive into the holiday season with its twinkling lights and festive cheer, we know that it can be quite a challenging time for some of you. It can also bring up feelings of loneliness, and guess what? It’s totally okay to feel that way. If you find yourself navigating these emotions, it’s essential to know that you’re not alone.
Loneliness doesn’t discriminate. Whether you’re far from home or just looking for a bit of connection, it’s important to acknowledge those feelings. We get it. Many of us, regardless of our age or background, experience a bit of that isolation during the holiday season.
Support at DGHE
We just wanted to remind you that we’re here for you. The holiday season can be a bit tough, and that’s why we’re reaching out. If you’re feeling the holiday blues, connect with this online community called Togetherall at togetherall.com. It’s a space where you can connect with others, share your thoughts, and find support. Think of it as a virtual hangout where everyone’s welcome. Be sure to also check our all our Advice & Wellbeing Service (AWS) resources for both students and staff.
In moments of loneliness, bear in mind that empathy, coupled with a simple conversation, can make a huge impact. This connection can be found in various forms—from neighbours to people at your local shop, from classmates to old friends. By opening up and listening to others, we create a sense of understanding and support. Compassion and connection can light up even the gloomiest days. If you’re feeling a bit lonely, reach out. It could be to a friend, a family member, or even to the community at DGHE, teacher, classmate. Together, we can make this holiday season full of warmth, understanding, and the knowledge that, you’re not alone.
Wishing each and every one of you a season filled with connection and joy! 🎄❄️
