Inside Out: Graphic Design Exhibition
Posted on 04/02/25
On the 28th of January, our second-year HND Graphic Design students showcased their graduating work in an exhibition titled “Inside Out”. The event featured a variety of projects, each demonstrating unique interpretations and creative approaches across different mediums.
Patricia Mulligan, the Senior Lecturer at the School of Digital & Creative Technologies, explained that the students were asked to reflect on the therapeutic value of engaging in art and design practice as an aid to wellbeing. They explored how engagement in a specific creative practice or project within art and design, may have therapeutic value at the personal, individual, or societal level.
These self-initiated projects explore various themes, including how photographic drift aids self-reflection, how art therapy can counter anxiety within the NHS, and how animation can support children with ADHD. Other projects address the diasporic experience through collaging workshops, discuss body image using animals in children’s storybooks, and explore how dance and movement can relieve stress and anxiety.
To our graduating students, we extend our best wishes for continued success and fulfillment on their journeys. For those continuing their academic path, may these shows serve as inspiration for future exploration and growth!
